A journey to live a life restored.

If you stopped for a moment in front of a mirror to simply ponder your reflection, what might you find yourself thinking? Would curiosity compel you to look for something deeper behind those eyes? How would you feel? Would you find shame? Or regret? Or a restlessness, a nudge, that something needs to change? What about God? What might He be thinking about the one who is looking back at you? While considering your reflection, might you feel a sting about something? Would something feel “off” or not quite right?

I encourage you to not shy away when something feels “a bit off.” Go after it.

Jan Johnson writes, “It’s not the experience that brings transformation, it’s our reflection upon our experience.”

If you think there might be some “unfinished business” as you look into that mirror and you want to learn more, spiritual direction is one way to lean in and gently go after it. You might be curious and want to explore if there might be a mending for those sad places just waiting for you to turn and look for it.

So what is Spiritual Direction?

Quite simply, “spiritual direction can be defined as taking place when one person (the director) prayerfully supports and encourages another person (the directee) to attend and respond to God. As a fellow pilgrim, the spiritual director accompanies the directee on this journey of faith” (Sue Pickering). God is the real director. In this relationship, transformation begins.

If this nudges your heart and feels like something you want to learn more about, I’d love to share what I know.
